Radiant Diamond Engagement Rings
As Marilyn Monroe once said, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” And boy was she right in saying that because there is nothing more magical than a diamond ring that sparkles from across the room, hypnotizing women everywhere.
The first diamond was found in 1866 by a young boy in the Cape Colony, South Africa and it was described as a big transparent rock that escalated into a thriving business with the creation of diamonds and what has inspired lavish engagement rings to be adorned by female fingers everywhere.
There are many exceptional stones that have been cut and specially designed to suit the style of the owner with words like fire, brilliance and splash describing the cut of the diamond. The sparkle depends on how the diamond is cut and many of them have been cut in order to show as much sparkle as possible.
1. This square cut diamond is very deep with trimmed, truncated corners.
2. 70 facets that form an extensive pavilion
3. Trimmed corners to prevent catching on clothing
4. This cut prevents chipping and breaking
History and Origin of the Radiant Diamond Cut
The Radiant diamond cut was first brought into the world in 1977 and has become a popular choice. The cut was designed by Henry Grossbard, a master diamond cutter. The intention of this design was to combine the best features of the emerald cut and the round brilliant cut which displays an elegant elongated shape and voluminous facets. The most common radiant cuts are rectangular shaped but some are known to be square shaped. The long rectangular shape allows for more facets, making it a truly remarkable cut.
Celebrities and the Radiant Cut diamond
If you are in the public eye and are continuously snapped by photographers, it is only natural to want the most glittering and sparkling ring to show off in photographs and magazine spreads. Because of the magnificent showing of facets, the radiant diamond cut is one of the most popular engagement ring cuts among celebrities.
